The Social Network Association® is led by a team of psychology, sociology, science, legal, business, finance, and marketing experts who share a common goal—to develop best practices in the social networking space that focus on accountability and improve service, safety, and sustainability.

Jim Nico

CEO and Founder  

Jim Nico is Founder and CEO of Social Network Intermedia (SNI) and The Social Network Association, and he co-hosts The Social Network Show®. As the leader of SNI and The Social Network Association, Jim has already developed strategic partnerships with Dun & Bradstreet, PR Newswire, Velocidi, and others to implement the mission to foster growth and best practices among online social networks as they evolve.

Previously, Jim was the Executive Vice President and co-founder of Interstate Interlok, Inc., where he was responsible for business strategy, finance, and administration. He also contracted with GTE Mobilenet to service and implement a court adjunct program in 17 counties. Jim has a strategic alliance with Horizon Marketing Group and served as VP of International Distribution for Thomas Fetterman, Inc.

Jane Belland Karwoski, PhD, MSW

Chief Science Officer

Dr. Jane Belland Karwoski is Chief Science Officer of Social Network Intermedia and The Social Network Association as well as the lead host of The Social Network Show® . She holds a doctoral degree in experimental psychology and dedicated her early research efforts to combining social, cognitive and health psychology as they relate to the influence of key opinion leaders in spreading best practices.

Prior to the availability of formal online social networking tools, Jane developed Genomicus Americus, an e-newsletter connecting North American and South American social scientists studying genetic and genomic issues. She has been a Research Assistant at the Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics (Cardiff, South Wales), an ORISE Fellow with the National Center on Birth Defects (CDC, Atlanta, GA), and a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Center for the Study of Healthcare Behavior (VA of Greater Los Angeles/RAND Health/UCLA). She has held adjunct professor positions in the psychology departments of The University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Excelsior College; and Drexel University.

Dr. Karwoski is the recipient of 2012 JCEHP Award for Excellence in Research.

Terry Monoson-Nico, MPH

Program Director, The Social Network Station®

Terry Monoson-Nico serves as the Program Director responsible for managing The Social Network Station, which currently includes The Social Network Show and The Social Network Channel™ (coming soon to TV). Terry is directly involved with the day-to-day management of SNI and The Social Network Association.

Prior to helping launch Social Network Intermedia, Terry served as Operations Manager and co-owner of Interstate Interlok, Inc.

Daniel Goodsell

Acting General Counsel & Pending Chief Financial and Legal Officer

Daniel Goodsell serves as SNI’s acting General Counsel & Pending Chief Financial and Legal Officer, reporting to the CEO via his practice, Goodsell & Olson. Dan brings to SNI his expertise in forming corporations, trusts and private foundations, with extensive experience in accounting and tax planning. Dan also plays a key role in corporate planning and legal strategy.

Carol Todd

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Carol Todd a Port Coquitlam, BC educator-turned children’s advocate lost her daughter to suicide October 10, 2012 due to years of cyber bullying, sexual exploitation and mental health issues. Carol has given numerous radio, television and newspaper interviews and has met with many people to share her and her daughter’s experiences. Carol and relatives of three other teenage girls who died after being cyber bullied or lured online, met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper in May, 2013 to talk about laws that will crack down on internet tormentors.

Carol has set up The Amanda Todd Legacy and Memorial Foundation, a legacy fund in honor of her daughter to help fund new initiatives in schools and communities. Through this foundation, she is raising money for anti-bullying education and, support programs for young people with mental health problems. In 2013, Carol won the 2013 Me to We Award in the category of Social Action, presented by Canadian Living and AOL/Huffington Post Impact Canada.

Gian Brown

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Focusing on M&A and other strategic transactions for both early and later stage companies, Gian successfully migrated his experience as both outside and in-house legal counsel into corporate development positions at a leading global technology solutions provider. His responsibilities have included managing executives in multiple locations, conducting negotiations on transactions ranging from $10K to $129B, and serving on multiple boards of directors.

Gian has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances and joint ventures, corporate venture capital investments, and technology/IP transfer. His corporate roles allowed him to develop proficiency in various related activities — including screening and evaluating acquisition and investment opportunities, coordinating internal and external communications, public speaking, assessing strategic rationale for transactions and managing cross functional, multi-location (and sometimes international) due diligence, integration and disentanglement teams.

Trista Hendren, MBA

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Trista Hendren is a feminist author and activist. Trista left her finance career several years ago to work on women’s rights issues. Her primary focus is on empowering young girls. She writes a children’s book series call The Girl God.

Trista is co-founder of Rapebook, a Facebook page set up to campaign against rape humor and other abusive content including child sex abuse images on Facebook.

Juneyeta Mattix

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Juneyeta Mattix joins the Advisory Board as an accomplished operations and marketing specialist with 15 years of experience as a strategist in media relations, client relations, project management, public relations, brand development, special events, and Internet/e-mail/direct-mail marketing. She has created valuable partnerships with hundreds of local and international media contacts and is passionate about Internet search, social media, web 2.0, and strategy networking.

Juneyeta is the owner of Event Media Partnerships, LLC, a partnership and business strategy company. She is also currently responsible for managing, implementing, and overseeing all regulatory matters for e-ventures Worldwide LLC’s operations, company contracts, and partnerships worldwide. She also oversees the Company’s transactional and compliance matters. She has vast experience in technology advocacy, corporate leadership, and business administrative development and planning. She is also the assistant editor for Visibility Magazine.

Prior to her current roles, Juneyeta worked at Ball State University as the service center and media center coordinator for the Department of History and in the Purdue Research Park at Imaginestics, LLC, a 3D search engine agency.

Juneyeta holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ball State University.

Deirdre Breakenridge

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Deirdre K. Breakenridge is Chief Executive Officer at Pure Performance Communications. A veteran in PR and marketing, Deirdre has counseled senior level executives at organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Empire Today, JVC, Marketwired, and Sysomos.

Deirdre is the author of five Financial Times books. Her most recent book, “Social Media and Public Relations: Eight New Practices for the PR Professional,” was published in May 2012 and is available in print and all digital formats. Her other books include, “Putting the Public Back in Public Relations,” “PR 2.0, New Media, New Tools, New Audiences,” “The New PR Toolkit” and “Cyberbranding: Brand Building in the Digital Economy.”
Deirdre is an adjunct professor at New York University (NYU) and an online instructor at Rutgers University and UMASS at Amherst. She speaks nationally and internationally on the topics of PR, marketing and social media communications. She was the keynote speaker at Promise Foundation PRAXIS Summit in Pondicherry, India, The Social Conference in Amsterdam, the PRSA Southwest District Conference in Tulsa Oklahoma, and the Canadian Public Relations Society Annual Conference in Victoria, BC. Deirdre has also presented at the City of Los Angeles Annual Workshop and Mid Year Crisis Management Workshop, the National Homeland Security Conference in Los Angeles, NMX BlogWorld, and the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

Deirdre Breakenridge is a member of PRSA and has served on the Board of NJ/PRSA and the New Jersey Advertising Club. Top Rank named her among the 25 Women that Rock Social Media and Traackr recognized her as one of the top Engagers in 2013.

Alan Katzman

Member, SNI Advisory Board

Alan Katzman is a social media expert and the founder of Social Assurity LLC, a company providing social media optimization services to college applicants, graduates, athletes and job seekers. Social Assurity also delivers workshops and seminars to schools, parents’ associations, students and athletic departments. Prior to founding Social Assurity, Alan managed the legal, compliance and administrative functions for several high-tech companies including Avaya, SolutionPoint and i3 Mobile Inc.

Alan is a graduate of Albany Law School of Union University and lies in the NY Metro Area.
